​ROSS BLECKNER
(American, b. 1949)

ABOUT
After receiving a BA from New York University and a MFA from the California Institute of the Arts, Ross Bleckner has spent his career in New York City. He has found a range of inspiration for his works, affecting his abstract motifs and the subject matter he chooses. Bleckner has also been very involved in philanthropic organizations, often influencing his works. He is actively involved in the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America, local charitable organizations, as well international program raising awareness about world issues. He was the first artist awarded the title of Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations. His series of works are very symbolic of themes he is exploring and he often combines past series and motifs. The Guggenheim Museum exhibited a retrospective of his works in 1995 and his works are exhibited in prominent private and museum collections internationally.
