APPRAISALS
We provide appraisals for the purposes of insurance, damage, loss, resale, estate planning, charitable contribution and equitable distribution. All services are confidential. All appraisals are prepared in accordance with the current Uniform Standards for Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and Internal Revenue Service regulations. ABOUT THE APPRAISER The appraiser, Catherine McCormick, has worked within the contemporary art market in both brick and mortar galleries and the rapidly expanding world of art fairs for well over a decade. After an internship at Christie's, she began her career at Knoedler & Co. (New York, NY) in 2000. In 2012, after stints with several contemporary art fairs, Catherine became the director of Peter Marcelle Gallery in Bridgehampton, NY (later Peter Marcelle Project, Southampton, NY), also working with the Gerald Peters Gallery (New York, NY) during this time. In 2018 MM Fine Art was established, specializing in contemporary and 20th century painting, sculpture, drawing and photography, and offering advisory and appraisal services. Ms. McCormick specializes in Contemporary American Art with a particular focus on East End artists of Long Island and also significant knowledge of the three generations of the Wyeth family. She prepares USPAP compliant appraisals for insurance, estate and charitable donations. She is not now nor has ever been disqualified by the IRS from preparing IRS appraisals. She has taken and passed the USPAP exam, the Congressionally-recognized set of appraisal standards promulgated by The Appraisal Foundation: effective through May 2022.
