CHRISTOPHE VON HOHENBERG &
STRONG CUEVAS Blinded by the Light: Channeling the Unseen World July 26 - August 11, 2019 Opening Reception Friday, July 26 “There is a spiritual connection when wind and water spray kisses salt and sand on your wet face. This is where I find sanctuary and peace of mind the way a surfer finds harmony with board and wave or walks along the wet shoreline following footprints while picking shells. Beaches are a tonic which cleanse the mind and soul, where one walks away feeling refreshed and whole, temporarily healing anxieties.
It was on one of those bright summer days on the beaches in the Hamptons looking for my friends and squinting my eyes. I could only see figures silhouetted on a white background of sand, water, and sky. These figures reminded me of Alberto Giacometti sculptures coming alive! I was " Blinded by the Light,” which in the end fulfilled my frustration over the many years on how to capture the soul of the white beaches of the Hamptons.” ~Christophe von Hohenberg |
