CORNELIA FOSS, a painterly realist, has been painting for over fifty years, as is evident by her sure hand and elegant use of color. Renowned for her fresh and personal vision, Foss's work interplays intense emotion within the formal constraints of design and painting. Foss paints what she sees, the beaches and landscapes of the Hamptons, the garden of her Long Island home, views of Central Park. Foss invites the viewer into a world of exuberant flower gardens, expansive landscapes and expressive skies.
Foss's work is featured in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the National Museum for Women, the Burchfield Penney Art Center and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. among many other public and private collections. For three decades Foss taught at the Art Students League. In 2017 she received an Arts and Letters Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. 2015 marked the publication ofCornelia Foss: A Retrospective (Skira/Rizzoli). Recent solo exhibitions include the Museum at Guild Hall, East Hampton, NY, 2015, and Rafael Gallery, New York, NY 2018.
With an artistic career that has been both broad-ranging and consistent over four decades, DAN RIZZIE is an internationally acclaimed American artist who has created a unique iconography of the natural world in paintings, collages, and prints. Since the mid 70’s he has had over 90 solo exhibitions. His work is included in the permanent collections of such eminent institutions as the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Parrish Art Museum, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Scottsdale Museum of Art, among many others.
Known for his detailed collage work and the textural quality of his surfaces, Rizzie’s work is often influenced by the rhythms of the natural world and the artistic influences of his well- traveled youth. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, he grew up in India, Egypt, Jordan and Jamaica. He received his BFA from Hendrix College in Arkansas in 1973 and his MFA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1975. He first began to achieve national recognition in Texas.
