JON MULHERN
Abstract painter, Jon Mulhern, is a local artist and teacher whose work reflects on natural movements through wind, land, water and paint. Mulhern plays with the eye, creating intimate moments of great detail, engaging the viewer. Each work is captured within a fantastical atmosphere of color, texture and paint.
Born in the Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. Mulhern was an artist from the start. First attending the nationally known Visual Arts Center program during high school, he then studied art at the Maryland Institute, College of Art (MICA), earning his BA in Fine Arts, followed by his Master’s of Art in Teaching. Jon then moved to Brooklyn N.Y. to pursue his careers in both education and art. He relocated to the Hamptons 6 years ago, following an offer to be a Visual Arts Professor for The Ross School. Exploring his new world in the Hamptons, Mulhern has rediscovered his passion for nature, a part of his art that he had found very elusive in the city. He has started to become locally connected to the people and the environment and has found a new breath of style in it.
